This article from MSNBC says that some children with ADHD symptoms may actually be suffering from sleep apnea.
I suspect this is true for adults, too. I have some symptoms of ADHD, but I think they may be caused by the sleep apnea. It will be interesting to see if that improves once I get the sleep apnea treated.

I'm tired.
I'm tired of being tired.
I've been tired for years. I didn't realize it at first. It came on gradually. The first time I really recognized it was when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism almost 5 years ago. I realized then that I was more tired than I used to be. It had been a gradual change, and I had adapted to it. I didn't notice how tired I was.
The hypothyroidism is under control, but I'm still tired. Maybe not quite the same way, but still tired.
It's a different reason this time: sleep apnea.
Even if I sleep in, my sleep is broken up by the sleep apnea, so I never really get a good, restful sleep. I wake up, and I'm tired. I'm even more tired at night when I go to bed. I don't really remember what it feels like to wake up and not be tired. I hope to find out soon.
I'm tired during the day. I've even dozed off briefly at work. (No, that doesn't really give a good impression.) I'm tired at home. I'll take naps, but I'm still tired.
I'd write more, but I'm too tired.

Although my blog is starting today, my sleep apnea probably started years ago. When? I'm not sure. I do know that I haven't felt rested for a long time, and my wife has commented about my snoring for years. She also has noticed that I sometimes stop breathing for a few seconds in my sleep.
I went to the clinic yesterday to discuss this with my doctor. She looked at my list of symptoms and said that she is sure that I have sleep apnea. However, it still needs to be confirmed with a sleep study (polysomnography), and then treatment needs to be determined (most likely Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)). Unfortunately, the sleep lab doesn't have any openings until March 12. That gives me plenty of time to research sleep apnea, polysmnography (PSG), and CPAP machines, assuming I can stay awake. ;)
